FlorenceAlthough it really deserves more than just a day, Florence, capital of the Renaissance, certainly merits a visit. For those with just a day to spare, our one-day excursion is the perfect solution. ![]() We will begin with a walking tour of this jewel of a city just to get a general idea of the city's vast historical and cultural importance. Naturally we won't miss the Ponte Vecchio, Piazza della Signoria and, of course, the Duomo (Cathedral) but we'll also see Dante Alighieri's house and discuss some of the many other important contributions made by Florentine citizens over history. Lunch will include a classic "Florentine" steak and a bottle of the local Chianti. After which we will check out the local leather artisan shops for which Florence is famous as we make our way to see Michelangelo's superb statue of David at the Accademia Gallery as well as the many breathtaking paintings at the Uffizi Gallery.
