During the day, the area around the Vatican is filled with plenty of places to eat, but at night, many are shut down and your number of choices wither a little bit. It can be difficult to find a place that has quality food, and after a long day of sightseeing, you won’t want to be wandering around. But don’t worry, there are still some great dinner places close by if you can find them. If you don’t want to fall into the tourist traps, follow our tips on where to have dinner around the Vatican.

Il Mozzicone | Traditional restaurant
Opening Hours: Mon – Sat; 12PM-3PM; 7PM-11:00PM
Location: Borgo Pio, 180, Rome.
This restaurant sits on the quaint street of Borgo Pio just a jump from the Vatican. Traditional pasta and pizza plus a perfect location make this a great dinner spot. If it is warm enough it is great to sit at their outdoor seating.

Ristorante Pizzeria Calabascio | Pizza restaurant

Opening Hours: 11:30am -12:00am
Location: Via Properzio, 20/22/24, Rome. 

Located only a few steps off Borgo Pio, Calabascio has a nice atmosphere with pasta, pizza, calzones, and fresh fish.

Prisco Restaurant | Gourmet restaurant

Opening Hours:  Saturday, 6:30PM – 12AM, Sun-Fri; 11:30AM-12AM
Location: Via Fabio Massimo, 91, Rome.

Prisco, about a 10 minute walk from the Vatican Museum, is located in the residential Prati neighborhood. This restaurant has excellent waiting staff and food that creates the perfectly relaxing environment after a long day of being on tour. This place is family friendly and has a diverse selection of food including burgers and a little vegetarian menu which makes it great for a family trip.

Pizzeria Napul’e

Opening Hours: Mon-Fri; 11AM-3:30PM; 7PM-11:30PM; Sat; open 24 hours; Sun 7PM-11:30PM
Location: Viale Giulio Cesare, 89/91, Rome

Close to Prisco, this place has Naples style pizza, different than any pizza you would find in Rome. It is a cozy underground atmosphere perfect for a relaxing evening.

TED Lobster and Burgers | International food

Opening Hours: Sun-Thu; 10AM- 1AM-  Fri-Sat; 10AM-2AM
Location:  Via Terenzio, 12/14/16, Rome.

TED is a good stop if you want to eat something besides pasta and pizza. They have lobsters, wings, burgers, fries, and tacos, but they are best known for their cocktail menu.
