Fiumicino Airport, also known as Aereoporto Leonardo Da Vinci, is Rome´s main International Airport. Not too far from the city, it is located on the coast, just west and slightly north of Rome. There are several ways to get from Fiumicino Airport to Rome, between trains, taxis, buses, renting cars, and private transfers. Let´s explore each one.

Train from Fiumicino to Rome

There are two ways to get from the airport to the city via Trenitalia (the Italian Railway company):

  • Via the non-stop Leonardo Express Railway, which travels between Termini Station and Fiumicino Airport and has a travel time of approx. 32 minutes (€14)
  • Via the Regional Railway FL, that departs Fiumicino and stops at several central stations in Rome (€8)

Tickets can be purchased directly at the train stations.

Travel by bus from Fiumicino to Rome

  • From Fiumicino to Rome Termini Station:
    There are several bus companies that do transfers from Fiumicino to Termini (and also Ciampino airport, should you be coming from there instead). Companies include Schiaffini, TerraVision, TamBus and plenty others. Should you not have booked in advance, do not fret as these companies usually have stands and personnel at the airport terminal from which you can purchase tickets. Prices range between 5 to 10 euros.
  • From other locations:
    Sit Bus Shuttle stops near the Vatican (usually on via Crescenzio) as well as Termini and you can purchase those tickets online.
  • Otherwise, you can look into the Cotral service, which stops at several locations throughout the city.

Taxi service

Taxis can be found outside the Terminal 1 and Terminal 3 Arrival areas. Make sure you only take legal authorized taxis, which are the white cars with a “Taxi” sign on the roof. Rent a car from Fiumicino
