LivTalks presents Gaudí, A Merging of Nature with Art with Dolça from her home in Barcelona! This 45 minute interactive webinar episode will take you on a journey through the source of inspiration for Gaudí’s creations – nature. Learn how the artist, architect and genius was deeply inspired by nature to create unique architectural wonders which attract visitors from all over the world. Dolça will talk about Gaudí’s beginnings as an accomplished carpenter, long before he was an architect. Listen to stories of his origins in the countryside, a young man stricken with rheumatism, confining him to a solitary childhood with countless hours alone in nature. This keen eye and acquired sensitivity to nature later brought the young Antoni Gaudí to study architecture in Barcelona, and although he was not a good student, some social connections and a genius spirit allowed him to finish his career and work as a designer and architect. This soon led to Gaudí becoming a key figure in the creation of Modernism/Art Nouveau, an architectural style that transformed Barcelona in the late 19th and early 20th century.

Dolça will discuss some of the avant garde works the artist is known for, ranging from furniture to the Sagrada Familia, his famed basilica which is not yet finished! She will also give you more personal tales of the artist including his tragic love story with Pepeta Moreau, a heartbreak which is known to have changed his life; and his friendship with Eusebi Güell which led to one of his most famous creations.
