LivTalks presents Milan, the Liberation Days and Freedom from Tyranny with Laura live from his home in Milan! This 45-minute webinar will give you an idea of the struggles and victories of the Milanese during the Fascist Regime, and their will to liberation. Laura will walk you through history, starting with Milan in 1922 in Milan at the San Sepolcro square, where Benito Mussolini founded the so-called ‘fasci di combattimento”. Learn how this marked the age of the Fascist Regime in Italy, and made Mussolini an absolute dictator (1925).

Laura will talk about the beginnings of World War II when Milan suffered bombings and catastrophe all the way to the end, in particular that fateful September 8, 1943, when the famous radio speech given by Italian Marshal Badoglio announced the Cassibile armistice between Italy and the Allies, announcing the end of the war for Italy.

Learn about the Liberation days, when Milanese were able to free themselves from the Nazis and Fascist oppressors, days which are commemorated still now and honored on April 25 throughout all of Italy – Liberation Day. Listen to inspirational stories about how the Milanese freed themselves from the Nazi-Fascist invasion and some of the protagonists in this battle such as Pino Lella, 94 years old, who had a novel written about his true story called “Beneath the Scarlet Sky” by an American novelist in 2018.
