My husband and I were truly blessed to tour the Roman Forum, Palatine Hill, and Colosseum with Rachel Zitin for our small group tour guide. As a professor of education, I looked forward to learning about ancient Rome. However, I had not anticipated the great passion and excitement with which Rachel would teach us all about it! She is knowledgeable and passionate about the subject, as well as enthusiastic, and patient in her delivery. In many ways, she demonstrates characteristics of a great teacher at heart. Rachel engaged our small group with her energy and gift for communication, while inviting us to openly ask questions without risk. She brought ancient Rome to life! By the end of our tour, we had exchanged awareness of the day’s VERY hot temperatures for awe of the experience, as conveyed through the stories Rachel shared.
