I recently spent four nights in Rome and four nights in Florence Italy. I did many tours, and many excursions; by far the most exceptional and informative was the ancient catacombs and underground Rome small group tour. On this tour I was exposed to many cool, interesting, and beautiful things. What made this tour stand out from all the others I have been on was our tour guide Melanie. I couldn’t have asked for a better tour guide, or more knowledgeable and enthusiastic guide. I’ve been singing her praises and recommending this tour and her specifically to many people. As an analytical chemist by trade, I am trained to pay attention to detail, and I was extremely impressed with her knowledge base of Ancient Rome and the ancient world in general. Her passion, enthusiasm, and excitement were all very contagious. She was detailed with every step we took. She was thorough in explaining the background, history and hidden meaning of the significant art works we came across. It was incredible to watch her work. She threw us deep into history, and let us live in the mystery!
Not only was she an awesome guide in regards to the catacombs underground tour; she gave us tips and hints on where to go, what to say, what to ask for, who to talk to, where to eat, how to travel, etc. From the bottom of my heart, thank you viator/livitaly and thank you Melanie. Thanks to her I am currently planning my next trip with my girlfriend to another European city, with a focus on searching for more ancient underground archaeology.
