This 45-minute webinar will focus on the beginnings of Rome to present day, covering 3000 years of history in just 45 minutes! This is a comprehensive look at Roman history, which is aimed at igniting curiosity so you have a foundation from which to further expand your knowledge. Julia will give you an idea of how Rome was started, with stories of Romulus and Remus from Roman Mythology. She will also take you on a journey of the Kingdom of Rome, its very early days and Julia will explain how this vast territory once exclusively ruled by kings later formed a senate, becoming the Republic of Rome. This will cover about 1000 years of history until she touches on the period, we all come to Rome to discover – the age of the Roman Empire, one of the most powerful governing forces in the world of its time.

Learn the extent of power the emperors had and how they were typically stripped of their power by their very own successors. Get an idea of the policies of Marc Antony, Julius Caesar, Augustus, Constantine and more. What mark did these rulers leave on Rome as we know it today?

Julia will also take you on a journey of some of the darker times – the Middle Ages which made way for city-states and Papal rule, paving the path for one of Italy’s most innovative and creative periods in history – the Renaissance. Learn about how this prolific age was made possible and the popes, such as Julius II, also known as the “warrior pope” commissioned some of the masterpieces which attract visitors still today.
