With beautiful sites and monuments around every corner, Rome is certainly the place to go if you are looking for scenic vacation photos. But after you get your pictures of the Forum and the Colosseum, make sure to stop by these places for 5 great panoramic views of Rome.

#1 The Spanish Steps!

Although climbing 135 steps to reach the top of the Spanish steps may sound like a daunting task, the view at the top is certainly worth it. When you reach the top you will have a fantastic view of both Piazza di Spanga and Rome’s shopping district.

#2 Pincio Viewpoint Beside Piazza Del Popolo

As the historical entrance gate of Rome, Piazza del Popolo certainly merits a visit. However, don’t forget to make the climb up the Pincio for a great view of the historic Piazza and entrance to Rome.

#3 Il Vittoriano

Also known as the Altare della Patria, Il Vittoriano is a great place to go for a birds eye view of the numerous Roman ruins that surround Piazza Venezia. Additionally, the Vittoriano offers an easier climb than some of the other options since part of the journey is made on an elevator.

#4 The Duomo in St Peter’s Basilica

St. Peter’s square alone is truly an incredible site, but even more incredible is the view from the top of the Dome of St. Peter’s Basilica. Be warned that the climb up is a bit steep and not very spacious, but if you are willing to make the trek it is certainly worth it.

#5 Castel Sant’Angelo

Finally, my personal favorite is the view from the atop the Castel Sant’Angelo. Not only do you get a chance to explore the historic castle that on your way up, but when you finally reach the top you will have a fantastic view of the Tiber, St.Peter’s Basilica and countless other famous buildings and monuments.
