There are many things that you can do in Rome in fall. With the beautiful weather, fall makes for the perfect time to explore the Eternal City. Discover our top suggestions for a fall weekend in Rome!

Visit one of Rome’s restaurants!

A must for the dim Roman nights in the fall is to visit the restaurant Pier Luigi. It is one of the finest fish restaurants in Rome and is located on Piazza dei Ricci, close to Campo dei Fiori. A little pricey in Roman standards, main courses costs between 25-79€, but it is worth every Euro. Beyond the obligatory fish dishes for a fine fish restaurant, such as: lobster, scallop, and oysters, they additionally offer a wide arrange of different fish to be served as Carpaccio. Carpaccio is mostly known to be thin sliced raw meat, with Parmesan cheese and ruccola, but it is often served similarly with sword-fish. Pier Luigi serves it deliciously sliced, so thin that the bite appears to melt in your mouth.Suggestions for a fall weekend in Rome

Visit the hot springs!

Rent a car and take a trip to a natural hot spring, called Terme. Italy has an enormous variety of hot springs all over the peninsula. The water is naturally hot and comes from the Earth’s crust where it has been geothermal heated, which means that the heat was produced by the Earth’s mantel. The temperature can reach up to 40 degrees Celsius and it is warm all year around. The water usually runs continuously, and is apparently filled with all sorts of “goodies” for your body, soul and mind. The closest Terme to Rome is in Viterbo, which is one and a half hour drive from the city, Terme Masse di San Sisto is a good choice. Here is a link for the direction to get there from Termini, the central station of Rome.

Take a trip to one of Rome’s museums

All the public museums and monuments are free every first Sunday of the month. Why not plan your visit to merge with a free Sunday, and take advantage of the opportunity to experience out-of-the-ordinary Museums, art collections that may be off the beaten path. No investments, to enjoy something a bit secret and different, for example one of Rome’s modern museums such as Maxxi or Macro.

Buy some Italian jewellery

Ancient designed jewelries are usually made out of gold and very pricey. But here is an opportunity to buy imitations of Etruscan jewelry at a small cost. Cotton Club is a shop located on Via dei Santa Caterina da Siena 56. Here you can buy handmade creations that are inspired by the Etruscan period: rings that serpentine around your fingers with colored stones or unique earrings with imitation of ancient coins.Suggestions for a fall weekend in Rome

Visit the Pantheon in the historic center

As is well known, the Pantheon has a hole in its dome, which is called oculus. The oculus is never closed so when there are heavy rains the water falls through the oculus onto the marbled floor. It is beautiful to see the centralized shower of raindrops fall in a straight line through the vast space. Something very autumn, romantic and beautiful.

See the Opera live!

Your vacation isn’t over until the fat lady sings! Or what? When in Italy, go to the Opera House and see the opera A Masked Ball by Giuseppe Verdi that shows at the Opera house in Rox me during the month of October. It is lovely to be escorted to your seat by a host from the Opera in the old fashion way. The boxes have to be unlocked and if you are lucky your party might be the only one in your box.
