April, the first full month of Spring! No April Fools here in Rome, we are officially enjoying warmer weather, longer days and outdoors aperitivo on sun-drenched cobblestone streets.  And that is not all! We bring you:

Three events to look forward to in April in Rome

  1. This weekend is Easter Weekend. Join Pope Francis and the pilgrims tonight at the Colosseum as he presides over the Via Crucis- The Way of The Cross. Enjoy the predicted sunny weather on Saturday and then continue Easter celebrations by attending a Saturday night mass at one of the many churches in the city. On Sunday, April 5, the Easter celebrations continue in St. Peter’s Square where the pope holds Easter Morning Mass.
  1. The famous pink azalea bushes are brought out to grace the Spanish Steps mid-April every year. While the beautiful church at the top of the steps is currently being restored, the huge flower pots are guaranteed to delight visitors and locals alike.
  2. Rome is getting another year older. Celebrate the birthday of the Eternal City on April 21. The city offers many free events, concerts and activities on this day so follow your senses and join the merrymaking!

…And for good measure:

While not technically in April, we want to remind our readers that the Milan Expo officially opens on May 1, 2015. The World Expo is sure to attract millions of global visitors and has earned Milan the title of ‘number 1 place to visit’ on the New York Times 52 Places to Go in 2015.
