Want to attend a Papal Audience during your next trip to Rome? Wondering how to get tickets to a Papal Audience? The process can be difficult if you don’t know exactly where to go but here are tips to make the process easy and painless so that you can get your tickets (which are FREE) and be on your way to see Pope Francis!

Tickets to a Papal Audience | Tickets for 10 or fewer people

Where to Pick up Tickets to a Papal AudienceIf you are looking to go to the Papal Audience as a group of 10 or fewer people, you can pick up your tickets for the papal audience between 3PM- 7PM in the Summer and between 3PM- 6PM in the Winter. You can only pick the tickets up the day before the audience, not beforehand and not on the day of. Check out the Schedule for Audiences with the Pope to make sure you know exactly when to pick up your tickets! The tickets are FREE of charge and you can pick them up from a Swiss Guard by the “Bronze Doors” which are located just after security when you enter Saint Peter’s Square from the right side of the colonnade! If you have trouble finding the doors ask any official and they will be happy to help!

Tickets to a Papal Audience | Tickets for more than 10 people

To preTickets for a Papal Audience-book tickets and or if you wish to attend the Papal Audience as a group of more than ten people, you will need to fax or mail in a Papal Audience Ticket Request Form to the Prefecture of the Papal Household. Faxing your request in is the only way that you can ensure that your space is reserved.

To pick up your tickets you will also proceed to the Bronze Doors and collect your tickets from the Swiss Guards. You can pick up your tickets on the Tuesday before the Papal Audience between 3PM- 7PM in the Summer and between 3PM- 6PM in the Winter.

If you are attending a Papal Audience in the Summer, they are usually held outside, in Saint Peter’s Square. During the Winter months, Papal Audiences are held inside in the Hall of Paul VI (just to the Left of the Basilica). After you get your tickets to a Papal Audience, make sure you follow Dress Code, bring as many Rosaries and such to be blessed by the Pope, and have a great time!
